Pre-Kindergarten in Walnut Creek
Scholar Simba Builds Kindergarten Skills Across Five Developmental Domains
Scholar Simba Pre-Kindergarten at Safari Kid Walnut Creek welcomes children starting at age 4. In a nurturing, engaging environment, children explore, discover, and build a foundation for a smooth transition from preschool into kindergarten.
Inspired by Montessori and Reggio Emilia principles, our five-domain curriculum balances structured guidance with open-ended learning. Our center is near Heather Farm Park and the Walnut Creek Library and serves families from Northgate, Parkmead, and Saranap.
Ask whether Scholar Simba is the right next step for your child. Call (925) 940-3321 or reach out online to discuss the program and current enrollment.
How Five Development Domains Come to Life in Pre-K
We connect each area of whole child development to purposeful classroom experiences that strengthen confidence, perseverance, executive function skills, and kindergarten preparedness.
Cognitive Development
Children investigate ideas through hands-on activities, nature excursions, open-ended problem-solving, and STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math) projects. They ask questions, test possibilities, and work through challenges rather than simply being given answers.
Language & Literacy Development
Purposeful reading activities, storytelling, and group discussions encourage children to listen, express ideas, and expand their vocabulary. Name-writing, tracing, and other pre-writing exercises build familiarity with written language and develop the hand control needed for early writing.
Physical Development
Active play and movement routines build physical coordination, while arts, crafts, block play, simple instruments, and sensory activities give children varied ways to practice fine motor skills.
Social & Emotional Development
Role-play and group discussions teach children to recognize emotions, express themselves, and consider another person’s perspective. Guided interactions also introduce empathy and age-appropriate approaches to conflict resolution.
Health & Care Development
We offer choices that let children practice autonomy, along with support for emotional regulation and guidance about nutrition. During nature excursions, they observe plants and insects while developing awareness of themselves and the world around them.
Take the Next Step Toward Kindergarten Preparedness
Scholar Simba Pre-Kindergarten combines individualized instruction, hands-on exploration, and consistent family communication to support 4-year-olds as they prepare for their next school experience.

Individualized Learning & Family Communication
We pair individualized lesson plans with dynamic group work to develop emerging language, literacy, and numeracy skills. Ongoing assessments show us how each child is progressing, allowing us to adapt instruction to individual learning styles.
Our school-home partnership includes:
- Regular assessments that document development across the program
- Ongoing communication through Procare and social media updates
- Family events that keep parents connected to the school community
Instead of waiting for a single end-of-term update, parents receive meaningful information about classroom learning throughout the program. They can see what their child is practicing and how instruction changes as new skills develop.
