Toddler Program in Walnut Creek
Safari Cub Toddler Care: Where Your Toddler’s First Steps Into Learning Feel Like Home
Safari Cub Toddler Care is designed for children starting at 18 months, welcoming them into their first group learning environment with warm, nurturing, personalized care in a safe, secure setting. At our Oak Grove Road location, toddlers explore, discover, and grow through play-based learning and hands-on materials that support both physical and cognitive development at every step.
Choosing a toddler program means trusting someone else with your child’s earliest experiences outside the home. We understand how much that decision matters. Our whole child development approach gives you a clear picture of what your toddler is working toward, not just a reassurance that they’ll be cared for. Flexible part-time and full-time schedule options are available to fit the routines of Walnut Creek families.
We’re currently accepting toddler program registrations at our Oak Grove Road location. Call us at (925) 489-0974 to check availability or schedule a tour.-

Five Domains of Development in Safari Cub Toddler Care
Our research-driven curriculum targets five specific areas of growth, giving toddlers the foundation they need and giving parents a concrete way to understand what their child is building each day. Here’s what each domain looks like inside our toddler program.
Cognitive Development
Toddlers build early thinking skills by recognizing shapes, colors, and numbers, working through puzzles and games, and expressing themselves through sensory activities, art, and imaginative play. Each activity is chosen to stretch their growing minds in ways that feel like fun.
Language & Literacy Development
From following simple instructions to holding basic conversations with peers, toddlers practice communication every day. They explore books, point to words, and learn to express their wants and needs verbally, building the language foundation that supports what comes next.
Physical Development
Large motor skills, coordination, and balance come to life through tricycle riding, balance beam walks, and obstacle courses. Fine motor development grows through sensory exploration, early writing tool practice, and manipulation of small objects and toys.
Social & Emotional Development
Guided turn-taking, cooperative play, and identifying and understanding emotions are woven into the daily routine. Our educators model positive interactions and give toddlers the tools to navigate their feelings and relationships with growing confidence.
Health & Care Development
Toddlers begin making healthy choices, setting small goals, and building self-awareness and stress management skills. Identifying and regulating emotions is practiced daily, nurturing resilience and a strong sense of self.

Experienced Educators & Ongoing Family Connection in Walnut Creek
Our director, Ms. Autumn, holds a Bachelor’s in Child Development and Education with a minor in Special Education and a Child Development Associate Credential. She’s been in childcare and education for nearly a decade and has been with Safari Kid Walnut Creek - Oak Grove for six years. That kind of stability means the educators guiding your toddler’s day know this community, this age group, and this program deeply.
We conduct regular assessments to track each toddler’s development across all five domains, adjusting our approach as individual needs evolve. No two children move through these milestones at exactly the same pace, and our curriculum is flexible enough to meet each child where they are.
Staying connected to your toddler’s day matters. We use Procare as our parent communication platform, so updates, milestones, and classroom moments can reach you in real time. Family events and open communication channels reinforce the home-school partnership that helps toddlers feel secure in both worlds.
