Pre-Kindergarten in Sunnyvale

Scholar Simba Pre-Kindergarten

Scholar Simba Pre-Kindergarten is designed for children starting at age 2 who are ready to take the next step before kindergarten. At Safari Kid Sunnyvale, the program builds that foundation through a whole-child curriculum that addresses every dimension of development, not just academic skills. Personalized lesson plans, small group sizes, and regular progress assessments support each child as they move at their own pace in a setting that knows them by name.

Our nature-inspired outdoor play areas and age-appropriate classrooms give children the physical space to explore, create, and grow. When families are looking for pre-kindergarten in Sunnyvale that goes beyond letter recognition and counting, Scholar Simba is the program we built for exactly that.

Enrichment Activities That Bring Learning to Life

Our Scholar Simba Pre-Kindergarten includes a set of named enrichment activities that translate the five developmental domains into daily experiences children look forward to.

Language & Literacy Enrichment

CHIRP, Story Explorers, ASL, and Second Language instruction build listening, communication, and early reading skills. Print recognition and phonics activities run alongside these programs to strengthen the letter-sound foundations children need as they enter kindergarten.

STREAM & Creative Thinking

STREAM projects, block play, manipulatives, and arts and crafts develop problem-solving, logical thinking, creativity, and fine motor skills. Children learn that questions lead somewhere and that building something is a form of thinking.

Physical & Sensory Development

Tumbling Tots and music and movement activities make Physical Development a daily priority. Busy Little Paws provides sensory experiences that refine fine motor abilities and keep children engaged through touch and exploration.

Social-Emotional & Kindergarten Readiness

Global Child TEMBO Talks and dramatic play support Social and Emotional Development through storytelling, perspective-taking, and collaborative conversation. Interactive circle time, phonics activities, and dedicated kindergarten preparedness activities bring it all together into a comprehensive foundation for the years ahead.

Five Development Domains That Shape the Whole Child

Every activity in Scholar Simba Pre-Kindergarten connects to one of five development domains. This structure makes it visible to families how their child is growing, and it gives our educators a clear framework for adjusting instruction to meet each child where they are.

Cognitive Development

Children build numeracy skills through hands-on activities and STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math) projects that turn concepts into discoveries. Nature excursions foster environmental curiosity, while open-ended exploration and problem-solving activities encourage critical thinking every day.

Language & Literacy Development

Purposeful reading activities are woven throughout the day. Children practice verbal expression through storytelling and group discussions, and they strengthen pre-writing skills through name-writing and tracing exercises that prepare their hands and minds for what kindergarten involves.

Physical Development

Daily routines incorporate diverse active play and movement to build strength, coordination, and spatial awareness. Arts, crafts, block play, simple instruments, and sensory play all support fine motor development in ways that feel like play because they are.

Social & Emotional Development

Role-play and group discussions give children a safe space to practice empathy, name their emotions, and work through conflict. These experiences lay the groundwork for the social interactions and emotional well-being children carry into kindergarten and beyond.

Health & Care Development

Children develop autonomy and confidence through guided choices and emotional regulation activities. Nutrition guidance, nature excursions that invite children to observe plants and insects, and activities that build curiosity all contribute to their overall well-being. Together, the five domains support executive function skills and confidence that build toward kindergarten preparedness.

Built for Kindergarten Readiness, Designed for Each Child

The Scholar Simba program is designed with four outcomes in mind: problem-solving and adaptability through hands-on experiences; communication skills and emotional intelligence for social success; independence and self-motivation for resilience; and creativity and critical thinking for navigating an ever-changing world. These aren’t abstract goals. They show up in how children approach a new challenge, how they talk through a disagreement, and how they carry themselves walking into a new room.

Families stay connected through Procare, the parent communication platform we use to share updates between home and school, as well as through social media and regular family events hosted at the center. Research is clear that parent involvement can strengthen outcomes, and we make it straightforward to stay involved at every stage of your child’s pre-kindergarten year.
