Toddler School in Sunnyvale
Safari Cub Toddler Care: Whole-Child Learning Starting at 18 Months
Safari Cub Toddler Care at Safari Kid Sunnyvale is built around a simple truth: the months between 18 months and preschool are some of the richest for learning. Our program meets toddlers exactly where they are, with play-based learning, age-appropriate materials, and a warm, secure environment designed to support growth across every dimension of development.
Drawing inspiration from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and other respected methodologies, our curriculum nurtures the whole child: cognitive, social, language and literacy, physical, emotional, and health and care. Passionate educators guide each day with intention, blending structured activities and open-ended exploration so every toddler feels seen, supported, and ready to discover.

Six Developmental Domains in Safari Cub Toddler Care
Our program is organized around six named developmental domains, each grounded in research on what toddlers need most at this stage. Together, they give our educators a clear, whole-child framework for every activity and interaction throughout the day.
Cognitive Development
Toddlers are natural problem-solvers, and we build on that instinct. We guide children to recognize shapes, colors, and numbers and work through puzzles and games that develop early reasoning. Sensory activities, art, and imaginative play give toddlers room to express themselves creatively and make their own discoveries.
Language & Literacy Development
Finding words is one of the great milestones of the toddler years. Our educators support Language and Literacy Development by helping children follow simple instructions, express their wants and needs verbally, and practice back-and-forth conversation with peers. Time with books, including pointing to words and exploring illustrations, builds early literacy habits that can carry forward.
Physical Development
Big movements and small ones both matter at this age. Large motor skill activities, including tricycle riding, balance beam walks, and obstacle courses, build coordination and body confidence. Fine motor skill work, from sensory exploration to practice with writing tools and the manipulation of small objects, lays the groundwork for skills toddlers can use for years to come.
Social & Emotional Development
Learning to share, wait a turn, and name a feeling is genuinely hard work for a toddler. Social and Emotional Development in our program is supported through guided turn-taking, cooperative play, and consistent modeling of positive interactions. Children begin to identify and understand their own emotions in a setting where those feelings are met with care.
Health & Care Development
We help toddlers build the earliest habits of self-awareness and resilience. Health and Care Development focuses on guiding children toward healthy choices, encouraging them to pursue small goals, and introducing simple strategies for managing the big feelings that can come with a full day of learning and growing.

What a Typical Day Looks Like in Safari Cub Toddler Care
Toddlers thrive on predictability. A consistent daily rhythm gives children the sense of security they need to take small risks, try new things, and engage fully with the people and materials around them. Our daily structure balances guided activities drawn from the six developmental domains with time for free play and rest, so children can manage the physical and emotional demands of a full day away from home.
Transitions between activities are handled with care. Moving from a sensory exploration station to storytime to outdoor play isn’t just a scheduling choice; it’s a practiced skill that can help toddlers build flexibility and self-regulation over time.
A Learning Environment Designed for Toddlers
Our nature-inspired learning centers are designed with toddlers’ developmental needs in mind. Thoughtfully arranged spaces invite exploration while providing the structure and clear boundaries that young children depend on. Passionate educators shape each environment to balance open-ended discovery with purposeful, guided learning, so the room itself becomes part of how children grow.

Why Sunnyvale Families Choose Us for Toddler Care
Our commitment to whole-child development isn’t a tagline; it’s the organizing principle behind every classroom decision we make. Instruction is tailored to each child, and we track progress through ongoing assessments so we can refine our approach as a toddler grows and changes. No two children move through the same milestones at the same pace, and our program is designed to honor that.
Modern, well-equipped facilities and highly trained educators give families confidence that their child is in a safe, thoughtfully prepared environment. Our schedule is structured to work with real family routines, including parents managing commutes along Highway 101 and Central Expressway who need dependable, consistent care.
