Toddler Care in Washington County
Early Learning for Children Starting at 18 Months
Safari Cub Toddler Care gives children starting at 18 months a supportive introduction to early childhood education. At our Tigard location, we balance responsive guidance, predictable routines, and play-based learning as toddlers develop communication, movement, independence, relationships, and emotional regulation.
Entering group care brings new experiences, from separating at arrival to interacting with peers and making simple choices. Toddlers have room to explore while our educators encourage language-rich interactions, active movement, sensory discovery, and participation in daily routines.
Call (503) 676-3873 or reach out online to ask about Safari Cub Toddler Care, discuss your child’s needs, and schedule a tour.
Educators Who Observe, Guide, & Communicate
Our highly trained educators are passionate about early childhood education. They observe children’s development, use ongoing assessments to track progress, and adjust their approach to each child’s learning style and potential.
We treat families as collaborators in their children’s development. Regular parent communication, Procare updates, social media updates, and family events offer several ways to stay connected with your child’s experiences and progress.
A Nature-Inspired Toddler Environment in Tigard

Whole Child Development Through Toddler Learning
Our proprietary curriculum addresses connected areas of toddler development rather than concentrating on a single academic skill. Activities reflect how young children learn through repetition, movement, conversation, creative work, sensory experiences, and guided interaction.
Safari Cub Toddler Care supports these developmental domains:
- Cognitive Development: Toddlers encounter shapes, colors, numbers, puzzles and games, sensory activities, art, and imaginative play.
- Language and Literacy Development: Children practice following simple instructions, expressing themselves verbally, having basic conversations with peers, and exploring books.
- Physical Development: Large-motor activities include tricycle riding, balance beam walks, and obstacle courses. Writing tools and small objects provide fine-motor practice.
- Social and Emotional Development: Educators guide children as they identify emotions, practice turn-taking, participate in cooperative play, and build positive peer interactions.
- Health and Care Development: Children receive guidance in healthy choices, small goals, resilience, self-awareness, confidence, and emotional regulation.
Play-Based Learning With Purposeful Guidance
Our approach draws inspiration from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and other respected educational methodologies without presenting the program as a formal implementation of either model. We combine structured guidance with hands-on, open-ended exploration so toddlers can engage with materials, ideas, movement, and one another.
Stories, music, art, imaginative play, and sensory activities give children varied ways to revisit emerging skills. Our educators introduce an activity, observe each child’s response, and tailor instruction to individual learning styles and potential while keeping Whole Child Development at the center of the curriculum.
