At Safari Kid Newark - Ardenwood, our Safari Cub Toddler Care program meets children right where they are: curious, mobile, and ready to take in the world. Designed for children starting at age 2 and serving toddlers through age 2.5, the program blends play-based learning with age-appropriate materials to support physical and cognitive growth during one of childhood’s most dynamic stages.

Our curriculum draws inspiration from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and other respected early childhood methodologies. Rather than anchoring to a single approach, we weave together what research consistently supports: structured guidance, open-ended exploration, and warm relationships with educators who know each child by name. What Toddlers Learn in Safari Cub Toddler Program

Safari Cub Toddler Care is built around six development domains that together define Whole Child Development. Each domain shapes a different dimension of who your child is becoming, and our educators weave them together throughout the day rather than treating them as separate subjects.

Cognitive Development & Language and Literacy Development

Cognitive Development activities guide toddlers to recognize shapes, colors, and numbers. Children build early problem-solving skills through puzzles and games and practice self-expression through sensory play, art, and imaginative scenarios. These aren’t drills. They’re invitations to think.

Language and Literacy Development activities help toddlers follow simple instructions, name what they want and need, and begin basic back-and-forth conversations with peers. Book exploration is woven throughout the day, building vocabulary and early print awareness at a pace that fits each child.

Physical Development

Large motor skills get real room to grow here. Tricycle riding, balance beam walks, and obstacle courses build coordination alongside confidence.
